AMM4M1: Music and Computers, Grade 12, University/College Preparation

This course is the natural continuation for students with two previous years of experience in composition and arranging using synthesizers and computers. This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of music from the romantic period and the twentieth century, including art music, jazz, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will concentrate on developing interpretive skills and the ability to work independently. They will also complete complex creative projects. Students will continue to develop their skills in composition through the use of synthesizers and multitrack recording software.

Prerequisite: Music and Computers, Grade 11, University/College Preparation or Open.
Note: Payment of a fee will be required for course materials.

AMU4M1: Music – Instrumental, Grade 12, University/College Preparation

This course is the natural continuation of learning a band instrument for students who have taken instrumental music at the AMU3M1 level. This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of music from the romantic period and the twentieth century, including art music, jazz, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will concentrate on developing interpretive skills and the ability to work independently. They will also complete complex creative projects.

Prerequisite: Music, Grade 11, University/College Preparation or Open.

AMU4M6: Music–Enriched Instrumental, Grade 12, University/College Preparation

This course is the natural continuation of learning a band instrument for students who have taken instrumentalmusic at the AMU3M6 level. This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of music from the romantic period and the twentieth century, including art music, jazz, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will concentrate on developing interpretive skills and the ability to work independently. They will also complete complex creative projects.

Prerequisite: Enriched Music, Grade 11, University/College Preparation or Open.
Note: Payment of a fee will be required for course materials.

AMR4MH / AMR4MK: Music – Repertoire, Grade 12, University/College Preparation

This one-credit package focuses on the learning, playing, and performance of concert band repertoire. This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of music from the romantic period and the twentieth century, including art music, jazz, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will concentrate on developing interpretive skills and the ability to work independently. They will also complete complex creative projects.

Prerequisite: Instrumental Music, Grade 11, University/College Preparation or Open. Students must be enrolled in a core music course.

AMV4M1: Music – Vocal, Grade 12, University/College Preparation

This course is the natural continuation of the grade 11 vocal music course. This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of music from the romantic period and the twentieth century, including art music, jazz, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will concentrate on developing interpretive skills and the ability to work independently. They will also complete complex creative projects.

Prerequisite: Vocal music, Grade 11, University/College Preparation or Open
